For over twenty years we have been taking trucks of aid to Romania supporting many projects. Due to the high costs of transport we have now stopped taking the trucks of aid as the Romanians can now buy the items we take in their own country. This is a big difference to when we started the work in January 1990 just after the fall of communism. We will continue to visit Romania twice a year; In the Spring with Easter Eggs and sweets at Christmas, when we will also take monetary aid to support the following projects:
Dr Vali was running an orphanage for many years. We thank God that in his area there are no abandoned children. They are not allowed to bring children from another county to live in an orphanage in another county. Dr Vali felt led to open an Old People’s Home. He is now opening a restaurant on the same site as the home for old people to be completed early September. He continues to operate a farm with many of the older children, some 50 kms from Otelu Rosu. More info
CHRISTIAN SOCIAL WORKERS IN ORADEA & CLUJ WORKING WITH POOR & UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN & THEIR FAMILIES
The social workers are doing an excellent work in Oradea and Cluj. There are many problems in those towns with poverty. Some of our supporters sponsor some of the families with finance. We are always looking for new sponsors. There is also drug abuse in Romania and in the city of Cluj they are using mentors to help the young people in their strive to overcome drug addictions.
They have just been given a piece of ground free of charge by the City council in Oradea. A Romanian builder has agreed to build the Hospice free of charge. We will raise money to decorate and furnish the building – which includes 3 elevators, medical equipment, furniture, training of staff and running the hospice for one year. A summer camp was held in July and we were able to give them 50 Romanian Children’s Bibles for distribution. Many children came from non-Christian homes. More info
CHRISTIAN GROUPS ‘IOCHABED’ in SUCEAVA & ‘PRIMUL PAS’ in IASI, HELPING GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN TO AVOID ABORTION
These two groups in different areas of Romania seek to save unborn babies from abortion. On our last visit to Romania we were shown photographs of many new babies that had been saved from abortion. More info
This pastor is reaching many poor families in one of the towns in Romania where the Mayor of the town has noticed a difference since some of the young people have become Christians.
‘AGAPE’ – A GROUP TEACHING HANDICAPPED CHILDREN IN VASLUI
This school where handicapped children are taught is in the Eastern part of Romania. How lovely to see these handicapped children being cared for in a loving way.
We provide support for the medical and social centre in Tecuci.
- We continue to support other people and places in Romania besides the ones noted above – some examples here
We gave 50 Romanian Children Bibles to a church in Oradea where during this summer they had a Children’s Club. Over 90 children attended with over half from non-christian homes.
