Dear Friends,

As we come to the Autumn of this year we realise that we have nearly completed 27 years of travelling to Romania, with much needed goods and finance. Romania is far different from that first visit in January 1990, just three weeks after the revolution, to what it is today. There are now many supermarkets, where in 1990 there were shops with very few goods. The problem is that prices now are very similar to ours, but salaries and pensions are about 30% of ours in Britain. However, the churches are still quite full and growing.
We continue to support the many organisations and people whom we have supported for many years.

  1. We continue the support of the social workers at Casa Grace where there is still much poverty in the Oradea area. Families are supported by donors in this country. Can you help support a family?
  2. The new Emanuel Hospice Building continues with building of the basement complete. We have raised £45000 this year (£5000 at the concert at Ararat in April) for this building. They are still working hard in the community giving palliative care to patients in their homes.
  3. Ciprian Bogdan is a pastor to the Gypsy community in Aiud and they are building a new church because the old one was too small. It will include a centre for activities before and after school.
  4. The Iochebed group in Suceava continue their work to prevent abortions. We help to provide Baby Milk and Clothes for the mothers and babies so saving the babies lives. They also work with teenage girls teaching them ‘How to stay sexually pure from a Christian viewpoint’.

We also visit and support other people and projects in many places in Romania, which you can read on our needs list. If you wish to support any of these please make cheques payable to ‘SUPPORT FOR ROMANIA’ letting us know where you would like your gift to be given. If you are able to make a regular contribution you can do so by standing order. Please let us know if you are able to Gift Aid your donation and we will send a declaration form to be completed.

We made a trip (155th) in July and another one will leave on 29th September. Our 157th trip will leave on Tuesday 8th November and we will be taking 2 vehicles with 4 drivers. You can bring donated items to our depot in Llanishen on Mondays 17th & 24th October (9am-1pm) and 31st October (9am-5pm).

Please note times of opening.

COFFEE, TEA & CAKES will be available when you visit our depot. Please remember the drivers in your prayers for the trips in September and November.

With Christian love,
Alan & Ann Penrose (on behalf of the Trustees)
